Bill
Frisell Seattle, WA.
With Eyvind
Kang, Steve Moore & Matt
Chamberlain
2005 Grammy winner for Best Contemporary Jazz Album for his Nonesuch
CD, "Unspeakable"
"Bill Frisell is the Clark Kent of the electric guitar. Soft-spoken and
self-effacing in conversation, he apparently breathes in lungfuls of raw fire
when he straps on his (guitar)...His music is not what is typically called jazz,
though it turns on improvisation; it's not rock'n roll; and it sure ain't that
tired dinosaur called fusion. In one of the biggest leaps of imagination since
the Yardbirds and Jimi Hendrix, Frisell coaxes and slams his hovering split-toned
ax into shapes of things to come...But besides being a guitar genius, he's turned
into a terrific songwriter. Like Monk, Frisell's harmonic and melodic ideas form
a succinct, seamless mesh with outer sonic and rhythmic ideas about his ax." -

March
Fourth Marching Band Portland OR.
Oregon Art Beat describes the band: “March Fourth is Oregon's favorite
marching band, complete with fire dancers, stilt walkers, and a great
horn section. They've captured the hearts of thousands of Oregonians
who have seen their spectacular fun-filled performances.”
March Fourth Marching Band was voted “Best Portland Band” in
the Willamette Week Best of Portland 2004 Reader’s Poll. Maybe
it’s because our band is bigger than everyone else’s so we
win if we vote for ourselves, or maybe it’s the infectious energy
of our colorful group. We like to think the latter, and everyone in the
band swears they didn’t even vote! Check out the links to see what
else the media has to say about us.

Troll's
Cottage Seattle, Wa
The fresh sound of Rhythm & Pulse
Named after a small dwelling that lies deep in the woods on the sunset
side of Vashon Island, Trolls Cottage is a collection of six youngsters
that perform an infectious kicked-back style of semi-acoustic Roots Reggae.
Although they will insist that they are not a Reggae band, the guitar
riffs, bass-lines, and Jacob’s uncanny vocal resemblance to a young
Bob Marley say otherwise. Not a Reggae band is sort of correct however,
as their unique approach, and sound, seems to attract those who are not
big on Reggae, as well those who are. Troll’s Cottage will undoubtedly
win you over. – Ben”Jammin” - www.seattlelivemusic.net

Aphrodesia San
Francisco, CA
Though they've been pegged as part of the current Afrobeat revival, San
Francisco's Aphrodesia go beyond that. Yes, their music is full of the
same sort of interlocking guitars, uninhibited horns and layered percussion
found in the pioneering work of the late legendary Fela Kuti and bands
like Antibalas who superbly carry on his legacy. They also have a fancy
for highlife, makossa, Caribbean rhythms, celebratory vocals and other
touches that enhance the combination of African grooves, James Brown-ish
funk, freeform solos and lengthy running times that have largely characterized
Afrobeat up to now.

Ursula
1000 ESL
Records, NYC, NY
The man behind URSULA 1000 is none other than the mild mannered, multi-instrumentalist
Alex Gimeno. Based in New York City, Alex's style evolved and transitioned
from the sophisticated & hip background score provided by his father,
a renowned member of the 50's Latin orchestra, Los Chavales De Espana,
to the heady rock, punk, disco, funk and electronic dance music of his
generation. Alex smoothly moves back and forth between musical styles
from the glamorous Jet Set era to frenetic electronica. Alex cannot be
boxed in, categorized or labeled, his music is a multi-leveled eclectic
blend of styles and genres. Finding a label to house this eclecticism
could be tricky. Lo and behold came the smart and highly respected Eighteenth
Street Lounge Music label, operated by Washington DCís Thievery
Corporation.

Danny
Godinez Seattle, WA
Danny Godinez will quickly get your attention with
his acoustic guitar. He was smooth and fast. It was
obvious that he "becomes one" with his
guitar. When a guy uses harmonics, slaps his strings,
picks with precision and speed, and masterfully bends
his guitar neck to get just the perfect sound, you
know that you are getting more than just music. You
are getting the man's soul. When he adds smooth singing
and even mimics his guitar licks with his vocals,
you are getting soul and art.

Michael
Manahan (Oracle Gatherings, Seattle, WA)
Michael Manahan, innovator and mainstay of Seattle's
underground dance music community, produces music
and events as nourishment for the soul. Hailing
from the burgeoning San Francisco house scene
of the early 90s, Michael rode the wave of positivity
to Seattle and as UFO, co-produced the original
northwest full-moon celebrations lasting 5 years,
spreading the joy of music and connection with
nature.
Holding several residencies in Seattle at various times, Michael has
also led the dance journey as d.j for many folks up and down the west
coast, from San Fran to Ashland to Eugene to Portland to Vancouver, B.C.
and even Hawaii. His style remains a deep, tribal house dipped in funk,
peppered with bhangra, accompanied by beats that hit you like a rippling
earthquake, and you can't help but shake it all night long!

KJ
Sawka Seattle WA.
Seeing Kevin Sawka on the drums is the only way to believe the hype.
He can play the most complex of jungle, drum'n'bass and breakbeats utilizing
no loops and no extended samples -only his two hands and two feet. Whereas
some artists claim to be performing live drum'n'bass, live electronica,
etc., it's more often than not a drummer playing alongside pre-programmed
beats if there's a drummer at all; Sawka, however, can perform each and
every 808 bass kick, snare slap, and compressed highhat tick himself,
in real-time.

Bshorty aka Blake Lewis……. Singer/Songwriter/Noise Conditioner/Vocalist/Performer.
First and foremost I am a vocalist. I started singing seriously when
I was in middle school, back in the day when Michael Jackson was still
cool to like Duran Duran was still hot, and George Michael was straight.
From ’99 to now, my progression as an artist has grown in leaps
and bound to levels I never thought I could achieve. I have recorded,
played, and work with some of my favorite musicians that have influenced
me and inspired my music. I love the art of noise and the creativity
it provokes. Thanks for reading - B

The
Panda Conspiracy Seattle, WA.
TPC is rooted in Dub, Reggae and Dance hall flavors as well as the euro
style drum and bass of the late 90’s. Its not uncommon for the
band to take listeners on a musical tour of styles all the way from drum
and bass to island style to a high life African grove.
As if that wasn’t enough musical candy, all their songs are tied
together with 2 or 3 part vocal harmonies. In a time when everyone takes
them selves so seriously you will find that TPC is definitely a group
of humans who do not. Their live shows are energetic, humorous and quite
infectious. If you’ve never experienced a Panda Conspiracy show,
grab the wheel because you’re about to get spun.

Darin Schaffer is a virtuoso on a vision quest, a composer/musician with
a style unlike any before him. Playing his prized four-string piccolo
bass while weaving in electronic loops and other sonic effects, Darin
elevates the art of the instrumental to a new level. His hands pluck,
strum, bow and bang the bass. His feet press the pedals of the gear below.
Bearing traces of jazz, classical, East Indian, folk and ambient pop,
the result leaves audiences in awe, clamoring for more. Guitar Player
Magazine recently acknowledged Darin in an article on "looping innovators."

Brandon
Plank Seattle, WA.
Known for staying in mix transitions for 2 to 3 minutes or longer, Brandon's
mixes stretch the very limit of how long two or more tracks can be played.
Listeners often comment that they have a hard time telling when he starts
or finishes a mix between two records/CDs and it's these long transitions,
along with blending of genres that has given him name recognition across
the map. A constant perfectionist, if you ask Brandon what he thinks
of his sets, it's usually "eh, it was OK", but the crowd full
of people dancing usually tells a different tale.
