Meltdown 2011 Volunteer Information

Volunteers are essential to the Summer Meltdown and our limited number of volunteer positions fill up fast. Volunteering is a great way to become an important part of the Meltdown community. Read carefully through the following details and inquire using the online form below.

We are looking for hardworking, fast thinking, and happy individuals for many types of work. Volunteers are required to work 12 hours throughout the weekend (in either 3hr or 4hr shifts, depending on job). In exchange for your hard work, you receive a weekend pass, one meal daily, early festival admittance, and a festival t-shirt . . . and the satisfaction of being part of the magic we call Meltdown.

Volunteers MUST be available for the entire weekend. This means arriving on Thursday in time for the mandatory orientation and not leaving until your Sunday shift is complete. Volunteers working Thursday shifts will need to arrive on Wednesday evening. Positions and shifts are not guaranteed, but we do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Here is a brief summary of available positions:

Teen Volunteers: We have a new teen volunteer program this year! All teens aged 13-19 are invited to volunteer with the same benefits and requirements as our adult volunteers. We only have 25 spaces, so get your volunteer application in early! In addition, your volunteer hours can be logged as community service hours if your high school requires them. Please let us know your age and what school you attend when you sign up.
To sign up as a teen volunteer DO NOT fill out the form below... email Chelsea at teenvolunteer@summermeltdown.com and put "teen volunteer" as the subject of your email

Green Crew: Keeping the grounds clean and landfills free of any recyclable materials.

Parking: No amount of signs can keep traffic going the way it should, so we are counting on you and your little orange flag to keep things running smoothly in the parking lot and campground.

Box Office: Lots of new and exciting improvements to our ticketing and check in process have us looking for fast thinking, computer literate, and friendly individuals for box office positions.

Burger Stand: Help feed the masses. The burger stand is a time-honored Meltdown tradition. If your past experience includes food service, we want you!

Volunteer Kitchen: We are also looking for experienced food handlers for the volunteer kitchen. Responsibilities include preparing and serving meals, and maintaining the volunteer kitchen.

Office Support: We are looking for a few folks to man the Info Booth and provide support staff to festival operations. If you are interested in this position, please be specific about your abilities and experience when inquiring.

Post Party Crew: We are looking for committed individuals to remain on site until cleanup is complete, usually until Wednesday. This must be arranged specifically and will require you to purchase a ticket and be reimbursed once your volunteer commitment has been fulfilled. You will be fed, clothed, and otherwise considered a hero for your valiant efforts at restoring the site to its original condition. Your volunteer hours will exceed the 12 hour weekend requirement, but it will be well worth your hard work!

Other: There are also possible volunteer positions available in Production, Security, Espresso Stand, Hospitality, Beer Garden, and general Staff Support throughout the summer. Please be specific about your skill-set and why you would be a good choice for one of these jobs, or for something else that you don’t see listed.

We're no longer accepting volunteers for the 2011 Summer Meltdown.
